If you dig into it you'll see its junk,
Even the meters are hot glued in ....
I can't believe his name is on it .

PLP would not like the SNR on that unit. SNR only in the 90s

My apologies for the very late post. PLP as in “ME”? I didn’t think my ears were THAT critical? Well maybe. I can hear the buzzing of a gnat from 20 ft away……………….

I don't know what happened with Carver gear, I had one of their preamps that I liked very much. Also a Sunfire cinema grand amplifier that I bought used and was in my home theater for 10 years.

Their new stuff just does not seem to measure well. I have a modern tube preamp that I had custom-made by a fairly well known small company, it is virtually indistinguishable from my good solid state preamps. My point is that people can make pretty transparent tube gear if they want to, but they may or may not sell that well if they sound just like they're solid state counterpart. People like that euphoric distortion I guess.
