Here is a pic of my wife Trish and me in Nashville this summer...

The deck looks interesting. Is it in the same league as the 1200 and the 1020? If it is close, yea, I want it. I've been waiting for a 1020 or a 1200, or even the Pioneer which was suppose to be the Dragon Slayer!

Larry said Web send him a Denon...well I have a used 7 and some 1 and 4 but nothing huge. I still have over 100 of the Type II Fujis myself. If you are happy with Web's samples I'll sell you up to 40 at the price Larry sold to me. Less than 75 cents a piece. I don't know what you demand from your tapes but I cannot complain at all after recording a couples and the words I hear from others state it's a fairlly good tape and satisfying to use.

I have those BASF unmarked blanks in two lengths as well if you want a few, same 50 cents you saw. Buy 'local', buy everything local.

I can send you some TDK, Maxell, and Fuji type II tapes for a minimal cost. Try them and if you like them, then seek out more on ebay. :)

Yes the quality went down on all manufacturers tapes in the 90's and again in the 00's. Cost cutting you know.
That would be great. Let me know how much money to end you. You can PM me, and we can discuss. I'd love to try a bunch of different ones, to decide THE BEST cassette tape to my ear. I really need to fall into a nice Yammie or Pioneer deck in addition the the Hitachi. I really can't wait to compare different high dollar decks and tapes to see what is the bet. I remember buying tones of tapes in the day, and seems Maxell, Fuji, and BASSF and TDK were among the ones I loved. All chrome tapes. Can't remember which one was the best, but I'm thinking it was a Fuji or a Maxell. I always bought chrome, never metal and not normal.

Thanks

Why do you keep saying a 1020? Who told you this? And what reason did they give. Let me know for sure you want that 1000.Or I have an idea where it will be setting.

Ok, I have approximately 18 different type II Tapes here. I am not sure which ones you want to try out? I am sure there are good things and bad things said about all of them. I guess it depends on how fussy you are and what you expect of of your recordings, a good deck can make most tapes sound good. In my opinion most of the type II tapes sound pretty good. If you find one you like much more than the others then keep an eye on ebay. Unless it is a rare or exotic tape you can usually find some a good prices if you have some patience. I will send you a list of the tapes I have and you can pick out some you want to try.

Another very handsome couple :love3:

Here's a nice Denon 3 head from 1984, for cheap! I'd bid up to $25 on her, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Denon-S ... 2eb7a1be94" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , if you want an inexpensive nice sounding deck.

Theres one more I'll post in a second. This JVC DD-V9 is a superb deck, I'd bid up to $110 for this one, http://www.ebay.com/itm/JVC-DD-V9-Stere ... 1c1e402f44" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , a really rare beauty, TOTL deck. Go for it, not much time left!!
BTW, $800 list new in 1983!

That JVC DD-V9 is the first I've seen. Now, if Sutton has a Pioneer Dragon Slayer in mind, I'm assuming that might be a Pioneer Elite CT-93. Scott (braxus) has an Elite CT-91, which is as good (sonically) as the CT-93. I think Scott is having it serviced soon.

Stuwee: all those TDK MA-XGs are tantalizing! You bought them all at one time?

Nando.

I'll agree with you on the Elite CT-93 and CT-91, if I hadn't just bought my Teac when Ditimtry at TH put his up for sale, I'd have bought it! Instead I did the right thing and helped MacGyver get it, a very nice deck indeed, I forgot to mention it in my list of must have TOTL decks in the other post

That JVC is a really nice deck, the seller sold it before for $122 and I guess the deal fell through since he re-listed it, I really like it with the level display on the motorized slide out drawer, just too cool!

Nando, I bought those MA-XG's in 5-packs, sometimes 2 at a time, usually at the princely sum of $19.99 per 5-pack on sale  , those days are long gone  , I bought 40 total back then, and have added a few more that were included in some bulk tape lot scores :D

I went ahead and bought 100 of these BASF tapes. We will see what they are exactly. They may not be worth a dime (or 44 cent), but I'll have plenty of them..

It is time to report on the bulk BASF Chrome Tapes. Fantastic!! No problems at all. I just recorded my first album in probably 20 years, and it sounds as good as, if not better than, the original. I recorded using a Denon DR-M22 and a Music Hall MMF-2.2 TT with an Audio Technica AT120E cartridge. I haven't comparedd the qulaity of the recording against other tapes, such as Maxell or Phoienix, but to my ear, I don't see how they could be much better, but this is strictly comparing to the original playback..so I'm a happy camper...$44.00 plus $11.00 for shipping...I have 55 cents in each chrome tape...a C-90. I'm probably going to buy another 100 just to have a lifetime supply. For the cost of 10 or 15 Maxells- 100 BASF's..........Ddddhhhhhh....

I don't know.....I'd say 200 will be plenty, with the 10 Phoenix Blues, and the 24 Maxell XL-II Black Magnetite's I just got. Heck that's 234X90 mins= 351 hours...or 468 LP's or CD's....I think that will be enough for the foreseeable future anyway...
