That PL700 Series II is pretty typical of what comes to my shop. Burnt resistors are common, broken solder traces are routine, and original Power Supply capacitors that are 50 years old are the order of the day. You CAN convert it to full comp, but why? The WOA Backplane kit makes it easier and the results will be far better. You will lose the original TO-3 sockets with their worn out spring steel clips and instead you will have gold-plated beryllium constant tension sockets to grip your brand new ONSEMI MJ21195/96 Output Transistor leads. As a bonus, you will be trading the Right-channel-only rail power capacitance of 2X .22uF for a full 18uF of the best Polypropylene Capacitors that money can buy.
And it all fits in the original chassis...
