I've been a fan of ambient / electronic stuff for years, mostly Eno, Schulze, Kitaro, etc.

Looking forward to exploring...

DL'd a torrent:

  • 1998 Are You Shpongled
  • 2000 Divine Moments Of Truth
  • 2001 Tales Of The Inexpressible
  • 2005 Nothing Lasts...But Nothing Is Lost
  • 2013 Museum Of Consciousness

My assessment of the music was more of an overall impression of what I heard, there was some chanting here and there that put me on edge, some of it apparently in Arabic (Farsi?) that rubbed me the wrong way.

Musically it's fine, love the instrumentation and the sounds, it's just the "flavor" in certain places that I didn't like.

That's a pretty good selection. Did you listen to Museum all the way through??

Yeah- that was the one! Too many digitized, juxtaposed, vocal fragments in the first three tracks. Disturbing- there's just something about it that hits my ears the wrong way. In a strange counterpoint, glossolalia as done by Cocteau Twins doesn't have the same effect- perhaps because of the lack of digitization, and sounds more natural. THAT'S IT! It sounds too unnatural to me!

Musically I'd say that it's (Shpongle) great music, but the fragmented vocal effects ruin it for me.

APHEX TWIN: The torrent yielded 4.97GB of files, randomly sampled some of it, haven't deep-listened to anything yet.

I used to watch Come To Daddy on You Tube...blatantly fun for the initial shock value.
