So I'll start by taking a bow before the eardrum-sensitive bunch.
I'm Milos (like that Greek island but a bit soft at the end "shhh")... and I'm an enthusiast over several capital things that make man's existence, good sound being one of them. I'm residing in The Netherlands for the past 3 and a half years where I'm gradually trying to assemble something listenable, still far from the setup I left "home" but good enough to seduce my mind after a psycotic working day.

I was a kid, maybe 12, when I first walked into a living room of my closest friend, who's father had a pair of 801's, fed by a pair of PL300mk2, at the moment when he was playing Linda Ronstadt's "Still Within The Sound Of My Voice"... and I think some of those goosebumps are still on my skin today. Couple of years later that pair of PL's were replaced by Threshold 400A and Levinson's ML-12 preamp... I was too young to understand stuff but my ear drums have been spoiled for good, there was no way back from there. Long story - short, in late 90's my friend's old man passed away (but passed the "bug" onto me) so 2 decades now most of his equipment lives with me and I'll be treasuring it for the rest of my life. Other things will come and go but that setup, shortened only for one PL300 is alive and every now and then, in memoriam of my friend's old man, whom I looked upon like my own father, I drop Linda's "Cry Like a Rainstorm" album on and my skin reacts to it immediately.

These days in the land of wind and tulips, I welcomed a new center piece to my living room, a second series Phase Linear 400 and that's a good excuse to begin this hang-out with you guys. More about it in a dedicated thread.

Nice to meet you all!
M

Welcome!

My father in law worked for Mark… I posted some of the stories he told me here somewhere, if your interested.

Welcome Milos,
You are in the right place. Your SII 400 will make a very nice project, and sound amazing after you get done.
Enjoy the ride, lots of great people here :).

Very nice story. I never knew anyone or their Dad that had nice audio equipment growing up. I do not know where or how I caught the bug. My Dad sang played and wrote country music and the best system we ever had at home were a low end radio shack receiver maybe 15 WPC two realistic speakers and a TT all from the RS mall store from 1976 Dad bought. Not exactly the highest end but I thought it sounded magnificent. Gotta remember I grew up in Phenix City Alabama. It was not exactly as if we had a lot of money or friends that did out in the country. I still have that receiver and it still works. It still sounds good to me. We listened to Hank Williams, Dean Martin, Lawrence Welk, Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline, and of course others I cant recall now. I am glad you are here and it will be great to see how your PL 400 turns out.
