That's actually the most important reason to post some information.

PS: still need to complete my own thread about my own modified AIWA AD-F880 with amorphous heads, after I put together all the detailed data regarding the modifies I've applied, which is still only written on paper.... i mean this thread, which might be useful in general, regardless if you're working on the exact same model or not:

Finally got around to finish this project.
Did some more tweaking of the playback gap loss compensation and ended up with this response.


Adjusted the recording section, set bias for lowest distortion at 400Hz, then adjusted the eq with the peaking coils. Aimed for flattest response up to 10 kHz and allowed for some rising towards 20 kHz as the playback section has that response.
Adjusted for TDK MA, SA and AD which is the cassettes I usually use. Below is the frequency response of the TDK AD at -20, -10, -6 and 0 dB.

Been using it for some days now, recordings sounds great and even the few pre-recorded tapes I have sounds good. Almost all that is, I have a Santana cassette that sounds like it has been recorded in a kitchen.


This has been a great learning experience, much harder than I thought when I started, but very rewarding in the end. Thanks all for the support!

Thanks! It's a C2 with matching T2 tuner and a M4 power amp. Been looking for a C4 for a while now, unfortunatly not for sale to often in these parts. I've got the NS-1000 speakers as well, but for the moment they are in my office setup, my wife was not to found of having the black monolites in the living room, she prefers the walnut, and for looks the JBL sure wins, for sound it's hard to beat the Yamahas. Although the Yamaha amps and the JBLs is a sweet combination
