I think it's a good thing Ed. It lends credibility to the WO'd amps being truly high end and therefore desirable (and subsequently, more valuable). WOPL's are gaining a reputation, in fact becoming legendary in their own right even moreso then the original 700s that suffered a bad reputation from misuse which gave the perception to others that they were not worth anything because of hearsay and internet speculation. People just repeat what they "hear" about them being flamers and speaker destroyers

Perry,

You did establish a new high water mark for Phase Linear 700 series amplifiers with your WOPL 700's on ebay.

Subsequently all other amplifiers including basket case 700's are now selling for more $$$$'s than ever before.

I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

It sure is getting a lot harder to find 700's in the $300-$350 price range. They can still be had but one must act quick.

Ed
Well, not sure. I have seen as well the prices shooting up. Some of these sellers need to get a clue though since their amps are usually AFU and only command the higher prices when they are in good shape/or have some REAL upgrades to them. I probably had something to do with it and I also can't find suitable amps to work on. Whatta ya going to do..... ???? If anybody sees an amp for 300-350, buy it or I will.... Personally I have not seen that as of late.

I used to work for Mittet Line Co. in Seattle when I was in my late teens. We made fish line for black cod and halibut commercial fisherman in Alaska.
Anyway, when I was roaming around one day and I found some old hemp fish line they use to make. I was tempted to cut of a section and ..............

It's no good for getting a buzz..... NO THC.... Trust me...

Usually only when they were used for purposes they were never intended for. Of course, when something goes and no DC protection... well flame on

That's all a moot point though now since a WOPL is not really a Phase Linear anymore... a firebreathing amp (but much safer) in PL clothes :toothy5:

I would be all over one for that price, in my casual search for a 700b I have only seen one in that price range. It was in St Louis and looked like that Steven Tyler PL400 posted here somewhere.

Hell, even the bomber Series II's are $400-450. I did have a used faceplate for it though (and handles). The kitchen handles need to stay in the kitchen.

Saw a sign in the back window of a car that said "I buy old model trains". Maybe we should give it a try!
