You can dunk those resistors in some sort of liquid to up the ratings. Oil is best since its not corrosive or conductive but for short term use you can just immerse them in tap water, make your measurements, and then dry the resistor off afterwards. The resistance of the water won't be significant enough to affect anything.

No kidding? You can actually fill a paint can with 5W30 and mount the resistors in it, fully immersed? I`ve been trying to source an appropriate metal chassis (on the cheap) to house my dummy loads with no luck.

Mineral oil not motor oil..

Motor oil will flash...so will mineral oil but at much higher temps...
