Several years ago I developed a circuit board to avoid damaging the grossly undersized power switch on the 700/700B's. The 700II has a better switch but replacing them, if one can be found is not a walk in the park.

I just listed the switch upgrade on EBAY. 700 Power switch upgrade. During development I recorded inrush currents in the 150 amp range. One of the worst ones is shown in the listing.

If anyone is interested, contact me here for a discount.

I don't think a limiter is practical or cost effective. I looked at a soft start using a phase angle controller chip (pseudo dimmer switch) several years ago and concluded there wasn't a market for it. The project turned into an automatic outdoor night light which is still functioning 20 years later.
