Since my 3 meter 5 amp variac is nearing completion, I thought I'd see if anybody was interested in my back-up variac. It's not purdy like my other ones but it works excellent. It had broken shitty plastic square meters on it and since I had a few of the old style meters left over from several restorations, I put them in. The old Simpson meters look better, last longer than the square duds. I didn't have a old style wattmeter (this is a W5MT3W so the wattmeter would be correct) so I installed an amp meter (dual scale too) instead. So now it's a W5MT3A and most guys would rather have the amp meter instead of the wattmeter. The voltmeter was burned out (never had a old simpson meter fail yet) but I'll throw in the 2 original meters in case somebody wants to return it to original. The wattmeter worked and I left the 2 additional wires for the wattmeter tied up inside. The wattmeter used 4 wires and the amp meter just 2. Original meters (especially the voltmeter are 10 buck for a new one on the bay if that is important to you. It's got a heavy duty power cord with the Oxygen Free Ground pin so it's safe to use in the shower (don't do it :) ). If no interest I'll stick it up on the Bay

I tested it on this cheesy craftsman soldering iron rated at 45 watts @ 120volts AC and the amp meter read 43.25 ish watts (amps x volts) and the voltmeter is spot on too.

Thanks for looking.
