I second the Fluke 45...hard to beat and pretty cheap these days.

Do you literally mean a bench meter? Or a portable?

As for true bench meters, I have a Fluke 8050A and an HP 3478A (4 wire) both of them are excellent.

The 8050 is overkill for me these days....i dont need that many digits anymore. Now, when I was doing metrology work is was barely sufficient but im retired from that for evermore. The old 45 is both a good bench meter and has the rechargeable battery option of you wanna take the show on the road for some reason. They are good enough for the audio work that I do and cheap....that what i was getting at. Actually I thought you were referring the 8558A...thats the standard Lab meter that we used at the end of my working days
