Little freshening up project 700 Bravo

Tim consider that in a production environment the circuit boards are run through a solder bath with molten solder flowing under the boards like water. Likely 600-700 degrees and the solder bath could be 24-36 inches long with a conveyor speed of 4-6 inches per second. In other words proper flow...

    Low Frequency Slam and EL34's

Yes, the EL34 tubes are generally run with lower plate voltage in the range of 350-500 VDC. Optimum is 430 VDC. The KT120 tubes run at 650 VDC in Tetrode mode and 850 VDC in Tetrode mode. This could explain the difference in bass response, but all amplifiers are different.

Little freshening up project 700 Bravo

I always count three seconds after the solder flows. It is usually enough. Sometimes you can see the solder flow down into the hole and then just stop, that is your signal to remove the heat. Don't move the wire for several more seconds.

Tell me more about your tuner and your favourite channel.

My Phase Linear 5000 does everything I need an FM tuner to do. I use a simple dipole antenna made from twin-lead wire and taped to the window facing West. I swapped out the two original RC4136OPAMPS with (2) Brown Dog 060601 Adapters with (2) OPA 2134 SMT OPAMPS mounted. It sounds very good to...

    Phase Linear 700

Does anyone have a Phase Linear 700 (not 700B or 700 Series II) Owner's Manual? I have copies of pages 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 10, and 12. There may be some blank pages in there, but I don't have the Cover Page. There may be others on the forum that need the whole PL700 Owner's Manual. I will post what...

    Phase linear 400

I have two complete sets of bezels and screw clamps from a PL400 that was donated to me without the meters and a very rough faceplate. White Oak Audio is looking into a replacement set of meters for me that are not compatible with the original Phase Linear Bezels. The new bezels will not fit...

    Hook up wire for PL700B

What Joe said above. 22 gage and 16 gage. The final number is the color that corresponds to the Resistor Color Code. For example M22759/11-22-0 is a Teflon (PTFE) Insulated, Silver-plated copper wire with 19 strands, rated at 600 Volts and 200 Deg C, in Black. You can find it on ebay if you...

Is it likely that these output devices will get hot? If so, the isolated tab devices may not be able to conduct heat away from the device as well as the metal tab devices you specified.
