    700 S2 Dual Primary Transformer

I have 4 original knobs that could be part of a trade for a dual primary transformer! Plus WO matched quasi-comp transistors, original driver board, WO quasi rev D driver board, WA DC protect board, original incandescent light board, original back plane, and more...

    700 S2 Dual Primary Transformer

Great, thanks Lee. Now for the real question...you got one in your stash you'd sell. I have a bunch of PL parts I'd offer up as a partial trade...

    700 S2 Dual Primary Transformer

I'm interested in buying a PL 700 Series 2 dual primary transformer. Does anyone have a spare in good shape they'd be willing to sell? Also, I assume the dual primary will mount to a 700B chassis without an issue. Can someone confirm this assumption? Thank you! -Steve

    RainDog's Modified WOPL 1K - Second Phase

One of the cool features of the switch driver board is that it has a built in shut off circuit for thermal protect switches using DC. This means I don't have to run one leg of AC across the driver board and down to the switch locations. My wires now run directly from the switch over to the power...

    RainDog's Modified WOPL 1K - Second Phase

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm not a good authority for feedback regarding Rev D and Rev E. I changed too many other bits for a true A/B comparison (not to mention 6 weeks of listening to a different amp). Furthermore, I can't claim to have golden ears. To me, the amp sounds noticeably...

    RainDog's Modified WOPL 1K - Second Phase

So after it was built, tested and sounding good, I dismantled and cleaned up the faceplate. I was the guy running his mouth about chrome plating the faceplate and having the original artwork re-silkscreened. However, after seeing some Burmester equipment at a Chicago audio show that was chromed...

    RainDog's Modified WOPL 1K - Second Phase

I upgraded the interconnect hardware with some nice but not crazy hardware. I wanted to use copper in the signal path. I used DH Labs RCAs which worked well with an insulating, reducing shoulder washer from a well stocked hardware store. The Cardas binding posts are Rhodium plated copper and...

    RainDog's Modified WOPL 1K - Second Phase

So I clearly brain-farted and ran the thermal cut out switch wires across the backplanes. That has been corrected (more on that later).

    RainDog's Modified WOPL 1K - Second Phase

About a year ago, I built a Rev D driver board and put new transistors into a quasi-comp 700B. Joe, Lee and the community were really great helping out an enthusiastic noob. I enjoyed running the amp for a year but had been planning on going the next step. Finally, audio building season arrived...

    700 Series II Conversion

Fred - the aluminum knobs you used look great. Can you please provide the source? I'm looking to chrome the faceplate of my 700B and the knobs.

What We've All Been Waiting For--700 BP boards!!!!!!!!!

Hi Joe. Any updates or is it all wrapped up? If I see correctly, the last pictures don't have the output transistors installed.

What We've All Been Waiting For--700 BP boards!!!!!!!!!

Yes, transistor pins not transformer pins. I've had a long day too...not nearly as long as yours though Lee. Just very interested in your progress. I totally understand how the real world can impede doing great things.

What We've All Been Waiting For--700 BP boards!!!!!!!!!

Also, the kit looks awesome and great work by the both of you. Do the transformer pins get soldered in or will there be PC board pin sockets?

    RainDog's 700B resuscitation

Indeed, it is about 5x the power I'm used to so I'm certain to go through some conditioning. Thanks for the document, Joe.

    RainDog's 700B resuscitation

When you guys run your 700B, do you keep the L/R volume pots at 100% and use your pre-amp for volume control? I'm not sure I trust my meters. With my meter switch on 0db, I drive my speakers to pretty anti-social levels and the meters stay in the lower 1/3 of the range. I'm driving JM Labs...
