Price up, availability down for replacement styli in the near future?

I have one of these with a Shure Super Track stylus and a Shibata stylus. Have yet to mount it as I am running a M97xE and M97. I have several other really decent carts but wish I could trade them for a Ortofon MC 20 Super mkII. I even have a Dynavector Ruby but it needs a retip

2 NICE Pickering Carts with new retips on the D625 styli.

I have a XV 3000 with a new Shibata coming from a friend with a bunch of other like new carts, some still in boxes. Can't wait to try a few out before they go to AK. Some preamps to. Really wish I could afford to retip my Dynavector Ruby though but I doubt it would be worth it. Sort of like me...

Cable capacitance. How low can YOU go?

I read somewhere a guy made a straight tonearm out of a Dunkin Donuts straw. No damping needed. Idk what he used for a locking collar for the headshell though. This was a few years ago

Crown Macro Reference Monster amp rework.

Just seen this thread. There us a guy in the next town who uses a tube preamp with one. It sounded good but I am sorry that is one fugly amp. I don't think people be giving their WOPLs up for one, it didn't sound that good compared to Sabbitha which was hooked up to his big JBLs also for a...

    New vinyl; still noisy

I have several tecird club pressings and never had playback issues with them. The packaging is usually cheaper. I seriously doubt any band would risk sales over worn out dies. At this time lots of recycled vinyl was used to make new records. Dynaflex comes to mind in that case. RC issues...

Friend looking to have 700B built WOPL

I asked Perry, he said he's not taking orders as he has a bunch if house stuff to do. Not sure who are the ace builders now. My friend has an opportunity to snag a nice still working one and a Sherwood 5500 in trade for a MA5200. Not sure if thats a good deal?

    AR's me likes

The D9s are a bit different from stock now. I used a rhino liner type sealer around inside so no rattles ever. Extra braces in each, 45lbs of ballast in bittom of each and bullet tweeters changed to Hepner dhomes which are drop in since they were used in the HED series CVs as well as Polk and...

    AR's me likes

Yep I have Sabbitha, the amp series II 700 Hawaiian score of Perry's. Remember me firing her up stock in that vid with the Infinity sacrificial speakers playing Sabbath and putting the boots somewhat. Now years later she is done to perfection being dual mono maxed and so very greatful to you...

McIntosh still builds its amps by hand, one piece at a time

My buddy has worked at the Binghamton location since the 80s. He told me stories about horseplay and fighting. That vid paints a pretty pic until the realities of any workplace crop up. Mac gear is overpriced regardless which is why I used his employee discount for my gear in the 80s and 90s...
