Sniff They add character so don't really bother me regarding looks. I prefer function over form to be honest. However if both can be had all the better and Joe's gear definitely has both. All I really want at the end is a keeper which I'm sure I will get with the help of all you guys

Hello again wise ones It's been a while however I feel the universe was telling me that a WO upgrade must be taken slowly. This is due to what Joe called "the shipment from hell" Anyway my upgraded chassis and assorted bits have finally arrived. I took the large step today and removed the chosen...

Does anyone know what this is? It's advertised as a distortion and noise meter but I think it may be a frequency generator hoping for some help

Lee I believe the two sockets under the voltmeter are the outputs. The left is an Aussie socket and the right is a UK socket. Obviously there is the option to hookup without a lead also. I have also attached a picture of the amphenol connectors and their surrounds. Could the transformer I...

It was originally purchased at government auctions and has a tag from the Dept of supply. I can't even find what that department morphed into so any documentation available is unlikely. I tested it earlier and it worked fine with an incandescent bulb however it has a very loud hum. Is it likely...

I haven't really progressed with my build lately and waiting patiently for my next WO shipment to arrive but today I saw this on marketplace and purchased it.(Beer can for size reference) It weighs a ton so I can only assume it will more than do the job. It cost me US$100 which is a very good...

I finished work in a good mood today and the weather was amazing so I did a little more building on the front porch. I even managed to finish populating the control board! My soldering is still not perfect but it is improving all the time I believe. I guess my next question is what are the...

Thank you all for your input it is exactly what I wanted. I analysed what I have been doing and today did things differently. With the temp set at 650 I soldered in the last of the resistors. And a mate came past my workshop!

Sniff I decided to start out at the low end of the temp range and work up from there. I figured more damage could be done with too much heat than not enough. And yes I will admit that it is a project for experienced persons but hey there's only one way to learn.

All resistors were checked with a dmm before installing on the board. I even went as far as to try and match values in left and right channels if they were slightly out in value.
