    PL-700 Transformer Cover

It's missing the complete cover. I think I'm just going to take it to the machine shop when I go to see about getting my engine bored. Should be a easy cnc job.

    PL-700 Transformer Cover

I'm about to bring a beat up PL-700 back from the dead with a WOPL full comp rebuild. It's ugly as home made sin dipped in misery, but the price was right, so I can't cry too much. Anyone know where I can get a replacement back cover for the transformer?

She's singing! Absolutely beautiful! I'm impressed and couldn't be happier! I'm using a Kyocera R-461 as pre and a pair of heavily modded Klipsch KG4 speakers to test. Sounds amazing. Played 4° by Tool and man did it sound pretty. Thank you all so much for the help. It feels incredible to pull...

They were there, the metal washer was on the chassis. I also had kind of a crappy solder on my grounds. I was trying to do it without cutting any length off the wire leading to the faceplate. I just cut it all off and cleaned it up properly. Buzz is gone. Double checking bias and gonna give her...

I have the rca ground to chassis. Don't know what I was thinking when I did that...kinda embarrassing. I'm going to solder it up correctly and give her another try. I really appreciate the help.

I've got an audible buzz. I'm guessing it's a grounding issue? Edit: This is a buzz in both channels without an input and it gets louder with an input plugged in. I'm thinking about it and I didn't ground the shielding going to the front panel. I'm going to open her back up and get that done...

    WOPL 400 Build

So, after reviewing everything, I think I'm good. In Mark's video, it says the dc offset should be between -.011V and -.017V. I then re-read the control board bring up and it said offset should be 0. -.3 and 1.1mV is about as zero as can be. I'm just looking for confirmation. I still haven't...

I got everything soldered up and put back together. I set my bias. I noticed in Mark's video, he takes a DC offset reading. When I take my readings, I get 1.1mV on the right and -.3mV on the left. Did I screw something up?

All output transistors are in and tested. I just need to do that repair and attach the front wires. Tuesday can't come fast enough! Does the short black cable from the front panel go to the ground? That's what it looks like it goes to, but I want to double check.

And I just managed to snap a lead on one of the transistors on the control board while trying to straighten it after bumping. It's labeled MPS A42 E27. Not real pleased with myself...

Yes, but when they click in place, it sure is satisfying. 2nd row in and tested. I think I may be listening to some music tomorrow!

    WOPL 400 Build

Initial bring up is good! I'm tickled! Currently soldering everything else in and then on to the 2nd row of transistors. The fuses I had were 8A 250V, but they were 20mm. I just coiled some wire and packed it in the fuse cap. No radio shacks around anymore, so it will have to do. Had to dig my...

    WOPL 400 Build

When soldering to my fuse posts I pulled the fuses. It appears one of them is toast, but it looks like someone used an 8A 32V. From what I've read, it needs to be 8A 125V or can be 250V. I'm not finding any options on mouser. Does anyone have a direct link handy? I'm going to head to my storage...

Excellent. Thank you. I've been checking out your videos Mark, very helpful. That was the next one to watch. Guess I should just sit down and watch them through.
