    I'm in love - Sansui 990DB

Or the G-33000. Or for 99% of the totl with the same looks the G-9000 with its 185wpc. Have one and still prefer the xoxo series. Your results may vary of course.

    I'm in love - Sansui 990DB

My favorite Sansui receiver although the 7000 cap coupled comes real close.

    PL700 Rebuild

And placed in rack next to bench. Green meter lighting matches up nicely with the Sansui gear beside it. The SX-1980 below the CA3000/BA2000 mostly never used anymore, even after a total restoration and new TxTurbo power supply upgrade board. It still has the original MT-200 outputs, and...

    PL700 Rebuild

Wish sometimes that they were. All are completed and part of my collection. Think I will put the PL-4000/Pl-700 combo next to the CA-3000/BA-2000 and run them into HPM-100 200w versions so I can do a lengthy side by side comparison. Actually the next piece in line is a Sherwood S8000 tube...

    PL700 Rebuild

Final post on this amp. Extra thanks to Perry, Don, Hexxis and Joe for behind the scenes assistance in correcting operator errors along the way. The PL-700 sounds wonderful with the WOPL control board and WattsAbundant speaker relay. Dead silent at idle and more reserve than I will ever need...

Anybody have a PL DRS400?? I'm repurposing so if you need some parts, there are some good ones left.

If you lived in Georgia would that make the project a Peachy Cobbler?

Wyn is working on a new power amp...

I finally get it, just like those 4000w car amps from JCWhitney for $29.99 Used to enjoy 100 lb amplifiers we used to lug around in the band days, not so much anymore, my SX-1980 is on a low enough shelf where I may never hoist it up on the bench again. Go for the lightweight chip design sir :)

    Yikes another PL-4000

A drunk wrote it, never, thought you were typing it left handed on a royal typewriter whilst driving happily down a high crown road in a 66 Buick lol.

    Yikes another PL-4000

Never was able to get my hands on a AU999, was focused (gasp) on the big cap-coupled receivers from the same era. The through hole parts are getting harder and harder to source, as you know the smd stuff is pretty good and certainly viable as an alternative, just a PITA for these older eyes to...

    PL700 Rebuild

Hey there Perry, was wondering where your quiet and thoughtful comments had wandered off to :) Yeah, the outright plagarism of hours of board design has me keeping my Kicad work to myself these days along with time spent helping the no thank you latte crowd on that forum that will remain...

    PL700 Rebuild

Been away for a while, spouse has been very ill. Anyways, became so frustrated with the mis behaving chassis I secured another later version from member Hexxis. So far --- Transferred transformer and assorted bits from the old chassis to the new one, drilled and mounted main caps to end plate...

    Yikes another PL-4000

One of the 4000’s did not have a case. Along with changing out the bottom plate with the slide in plate from the later versions I also threw together a wood case to protect the innards.

    Yikes another PL-4000

Been running the 4000 for several days now, it currently is hooked up to the main in jacks on my Sansui AU-9900A. Also wired up some bling with my cigar box PL-400 meters. Thanks to Laatch55 for donor parts and others for advice now have two restored units, one really early production and one...

    PL700 Rebuild

A quick update. With just the first row installed amp sounds great. Added second row (top row to be accurate), amp sounded great. Installed row above driver outputs and amp sounded like ^*&(*& again. This backplane gonna be the end of me. If Joe stops by the thread, does the replacement chassis...

    PL700 Rebuild

Not sure, at the moment removing all outputs, cleaning each socket with dental cleaning brushes, tightening them slightly and re installing just in case the distortion artifacts are due to loose or dirty to-3 sockets. Will test again for the 3Mhz once completed sir.
