So with the second board the same bias thing was going on?

    Disassemble PL909 transistors

In addition a question. Im stiil on original driverboard. Can i replace the RCA410 for a MJ21196 in row 1 column 2 and 4 (seen from the back, left to right, binding post to transformer) ? WO states it is recommended for WOPL board but is it allright for a normal board too?

    Phase Linear 400 bias, advice

Hi all, Wel i did sone work. Intalled the WA speaker relay, WOPL caps, fresh MJ21196G on the outputs, fresh WO bias transistors, emmiter resistors and 10ohm bias resostors. Works again and sounds nice but.. the bias of the right channel remains low ánd different on pos neg side. Seen from the...

    Disassemble PL909 transistors

Thanks all. It worked whit fine a long 1/4" nutdriver. What a difference these MJ21196G make..

    Original light bulbs PL400

Good day all, I thought i post it here if that is allright.. I would like to replace the original lightbulbs. Just for now with normal bulbs. What typs do i need? Any recommendations? Are these the right types? https://www.ebay.nl/itm/114903481903

    Disassemble PL909 transistors

Thanks you all! So this exactly the screw bit standard. I used a screw bitadapter in reverse, worked well!

    Disassemble PL909 transistors

Hi all, How do you guys dismount the original PL 909 transistors? With what kind of tool? Metric wrenches wont fit, somewhere in between 6mm and 7mm. And also the space to turn is limited. Curious how you professionals deal with it.. Cheers!

    Phase Linear 400 bias, advice

Thanks for your explanation! Clear. Seems very logical. So the the quasi comp was a workaround because the parts were not available at that time. In my (thin) audiobook simple design is often better. What do people report as sonic differences? Is it still easy without the backplane board...

    Phase Linear 400 bias, advice

I've been reading a lot of post her. What a great comunity! It seems i am not the only one struggling to get it right. This might be another Christine.. So it seems it is common that full comp is better than original quasi comp. What is the advantage of full comp? How does it operate...

    Phase Linear 400 bias, advice

Hi all, No luck i finding the culprit so far. I'd like to replace my output transistors as well. I stumble across Tesla 2SD555, are these comparable with the NEC 2SD555? Also, what kind of driver do you guys advice? I cant find any of the options mentioned in the service manual. Thanks!

    Phase Linear 400 bias, advice

Additional obeservations: When i turn of the amp, channel B dies way sooner and abrupt than channel A. Also when channel A has slowly faded to crackeling silence, channel B, which was already silent, gives all of a sudden a short "tick" or blob sound.

No, no blown fuses. The amp works fine. As is already great sounding.

It is not the oldest. I hope you ll get some info ftom these pics. The plan is to WOPL the amp. In the meantime i try get it to work and understand the amp better.

    Phase Linear 400 bias, advice

Hi All, I have here my first PL 400. I got it in, checked dc output and was on channel A close to zero on channel B 14 mv. So i gave it a listen. The amp sounded pretty nice already in this state. I started to swap the filter caps. One cap was down to 3000 uF. And after the swapped the caps (...
