My first real receiver was an Onkyo TX-2000 '81 with 27 watts per channel. Plenty of power/headroom for small room listening and great sound. Of course, once I heard a Sansui 9090 it was stored away. Probably will give it to a grandchild.

Does anyone ever use the original 700 for WOPL conversion? What are the issues if not? I ask because I have a few good condition 700s on the shelf. Just trying to decide what they should become. Might offer them up if there is interest.

The Shure V15s with Jico Shibata are some of my favorites. Like the Stanton 681 EEE as well. Waiting to see how you rate the comparison.

I would think the steamer would run on heavy oil or diesel rather than gasoline. Strange, unless they were trying to flush with gas.

Gas fume flash fires are no fun. Been there, done that. Blue flames to my waist for about 10 seconds but seemed like 30. Luckily only ended up with 1st degree burns up to the knees. Very fast hair removal:p

Agree, it makes sense for tubes, due to the voltage a transformer is a natural solution, but not in SS.

Concert Laser Discs are great entertainment. I have a couple pioneer LD players.

It looked much better when I was there in late 80’s and again in 2000. First visit I got to see that pick up horn being repositioned. Much louder drive system than I would have expected. There is a video of it’s collapse floating out on the inter web.
