You could always try some nu-finish on the scuffed cover if you havent already. It may clean up some of the smaller scratches. I use goo gone to take away the hazy look on plastic as well.

The Source/Radio shack sells phone plug to rca cables in singles. I have several pairs of their molded wires, as well as, some sets I have made. 1 set I made quickly by removing 1 wire from a component set, and chopped it in the center and added phone plugs to the chopped ends.
