    Marshall Leach Amp strapping

Isn't it common for a bridged amp to double its distortion, cut its damping factor in half and present half the speaker load to each amp channel? Not that the distortion is gonna be heard or the damping factor will drop so low as to not be able to handle speakers.

    Schlumberger CRC5043 oscilloscope

Yes, but my 1978 Sony/Tektronix scope would be easier for me to use if the panel had the same markings at this Schlumberger. I got a lot of learning to do to make better use of the scope.

Conspiracy Theorists Think a Flame-throwing Helicopter Started the Canadian Wildfires

I got a friend that moved to Seattle 8 years ago and I think living near the ring of fire has him thinking weird. He is looking at all the fires and mentioning that they are along the edge of the Craton, plate tectonics stuff. Hell that stuff is usually deep in the earth except well known...

    Update on my phono preamp:

I had the MCA-76 head amp with my MC-20 decades ago. Let go of the MCA. I got an STM with the MC10Super that was on a tonearm I got. It did not sound good so it got sold. I have a couple Musical Fidelity AC-1 head amps and an SUT and Phono amp that allow me to handle LOMC with the phono amp...

    Update on my phono preamp:

wouldn't it be the same as the first one? I've read that it is a fine sounding unit and with the limited adjustability priced for people and not those that gotta spend more than their friends on their gear. Nice. The MC-10 is a demanding amplification VLOMC at 70µV output, well below the...

    Pioneer PL-514

Apparently we have two places to discuss this machine. The other in the Audio Discussions section, Turntables and Vinyl forum and here in the DIY Central section and Turntable forum. I posted this in the other thread about this exact table. sold for 140 new 78-80. Pioneer name is costing a...

    Pioneer PL-514

sold for 140 new 78-80. Pioneer name is costing a c-note on that one well maybe 25 of that is the presumed better condition because the box is included. Most tts from that era are worthy. I just sold a Pioneer PL-10 for about 150, plug and play beautiful condition, unknown nail condition but...

    An Easter Egg for Vincenzo

For comparison, the Krell KST-100 would cost $350 per year to keep on all the time.

    An Easter Egg for Vincenzo

On all the time. Let's see, hooked up and powered for a year will burn up some electricity. For what I pay that would cost me about €1!!

    How about a capacitor discussion?

I know what diagram you are looking for but I didn't grab that one from the older catalogs. I did make a list of the color used on the caps, though. Thought I would drop the obsolete to new list along with the color code list. First from Nichicon, second from the product sheets a couple...

Lee, snow blower put away? Better check the A/C

Straight from winter heating season to summer cooling season. I like it better when we get a few months without using the heat or a/c.

Lots of change in weather across the US the past year and it continues with snow in the Upper and mid-summer heat just to the west. Hope everyone can handle this. Hope the flooding isn't bad across the river valleys in the middle of the country.

Better stock up for your DBT

much ado about nothing at this point. The rough service bulbs were not included in the ban and seem to be readily available. Others might be, too. So I'm not hoarding bulbs, yet.

I still like my Hafler D110 preamp. very quiet...but had some switch noises that I fixed. Super nice tone controls! great dynamic range

Looking back we missed the boat with the Dynaco Tube gear. I needed power for my AR-5 speakers and the Stereo 120 got good reviews, what didn't, really? Got the 60wpc ss unit instead of the 35wpc tube unit. Did fine, have much better tubes now. I was one that once I learned that the...
