    Thorens TD-125 MKII rework

LOL. For sure. I'm thinking I'll move this one on, buy a nice Orbit turntable, and use the extra to start another one. But it's hard to move on! (which explains why I have 12 motorcycles. hahaha)

    Uncle

I have to call uncle on an issue I am having with a PL400 II. I started with a perfectly working amp (after I recapped, installed new filter caps, rectifier, op amps and large resistors) and decided to install a WA speaker protect. While messing around and before the install, I stupidly crossed...

    Thorens TD-125 MKII rework

The bits for cutting out the recess cost more than the wood! LOL

    Thorens TD-125 MKII rework

Thanks man! I did do a full recap, and shielded the wiring. The faceplate was sourced from Vinyl Narvana, and the Micro Acoustics tonearm was sourced from Japan. The Leopard wood was ordered from Hardwoods Inc. Also installed new springs from VN.

    Thorens TD-125 MKII rework

It seems 90% of the time the reason a TD125 stops working is one of the two capacitors under the bracket on the board fails. The ones on this unit were way out of spec.

    Thorens TD-125 MKII rework

I really appreciate the discussion and insights! My tonearm does not have a din on the base, just wires coming out, so my thought is to go from the tonearm to a din mounted on the plinth. The wires are tiny and should not affect the suspension.

    Thorens TD-125 MKII rework

Jim there are five tiny wires coming out of the tonearm. l/r +, l/r -, and ground. I am thinking it would be nice to mount amale 5 din plug on the back of the unit, and then connect the preamp via a cable with a female 5 pin din plug on one end, and rca's and ground on the other (preamp) end...

    Thorens TD-125 MKII rework

Thanks Jim! Here is the protractor I am using for this tonearm. I decided to go with Lofgren B setup. I used https://alignmentprotractor.com/2-point-protractor-generator to setup the protractor. Now I'm going to make a mounting plate for the tonearm, I hope to make it before the weekend. I'm...

    Thorens TD-125 MKII rework

After removing the old tonearm and armboard, I decided I would replace the old armboard since I was going to need to redrill in order to mount the new arm. I decided to go with Leopard wood. I just finished making the blanks. I made and extra one since I already had all the tools and such out. I...
