Ooof... even for those early solid state receivers, that doesn't sound good. I've yet to meet an original of any manufacturer from that era that didn't sound wooly to my ears, but weak bass was never an issue. However, I don't get out much anymore.

It sounds like life was wonderful up until the moment it wasn't. He was a tremendous talent and deserved the life he was able to build for himself and his wife post-career (even if he wouldn't call it retirement). RIP Hackmans.

Really nice, Kyle! I'd have been tempted to go whole hog and repaint the deck and polish the selector wheel but I think you leaving the patina (there, I just jacked the value $100...) works better. Love the plinth design. Nicely done all around.
