My First WOPL 400 Series 2 Build

Doug, I've read the whole thread over and your prose is very non-confrontational. Nothing to worry about there. And believe me, WE ALL understand the anticipation and building excitement, and that creeps into your posts...and that's a good thing, if it wasn't you're a BOT!!

My First WOPL 400 Series 2 Build

The backplanes are an interesting part of that build. They seem to take everything you've learned up until then and hit you all at once with it to see if you really were listening....

    Phase Linear 400 mkII refreshing

It appears the FPL-909's are being driven by FPL-909's, the other channel the 2SC1116' are being driven by the BUX40's?? I've never seen that combination of drivers and outputs. You should consider MJ21196's as outputs and RCA-410's as drivers....

Hard to beat Al K's stuff. I have run his Universals and his Extreme Slope....both are excellent crosses... I have some for sale....went tri-amp, I hate to say never, but it will take some extraordinary circumstances for me to go back to passives..

Pl400 full white oak build, power cable replacement

TelRay, you can, of course, run your own research on the ground issue, but as Perry has indicated it's a dead horse, beaten repeatedly. Joe is pretty OCD about residual noise in general and if there was anything to make it better it would be known. A lot of late nights and furious...

    700B submerged in 6” of water....hmmmmm...

The switch you're asking about was the "Direct/Normal" coupling switch. Normal mode kept a capacitor in the circuit, direct bypassed that cap.

Chris , that feller in Iowa I've done a lot of work for over the years is going to audition the next Model One that Eric builds. Chris has an EXTENSIVE collection of speakers and amps and preamp. Speakers from the new Focals to Pioneer S1010's... He will put the Model One up...
