    Resurrected a Customized WOPL 400

The backplanes are in. I'm still waiting for the control board. Joe said he's pretty busy. I'm sure he'll get to me when he can. But I'm referring to the instructions that come with the backplane kit. It says to install the first row of drivers and Variac and so forth. Am I mistaken, regarding...

From Joe's instructions, it looks like bringing up the first transistors is pretty straight forward. However, I'd feel better if there was a thread that walks a guy through the process. Does anyone know of such a thread, or have some related information? I could swear I looked at something...

The funny thing is, when I looked at the drawing I made before I did the soldering, I had instructed myself to attach the AC for the relay to the correct post. Brain fart. But now that part of the project is all wired up. And barring identification of some mistake I've made, it's now time to...

From Joe's installation material, I understand that the DC source will come from the right channel B+ out on the backplane board. I'm just trying to get to the point of installing the caps. But I don't want to do so until I'm through attaching any wires in the general area.

Okay, I went to the website and reviewed the installation material. From what I can see, the only problem is that I attached the AC lead to the wrong post on the rectifier. My white ground wire is soldered to the buss between the capacitors. Am I still missing something?

Okay, so either transformer post, and just that single wire from the rectifier?

So I need to run a wire from the other post that feeds the capacitors, a wire from both sides of the rectifier?

I'm not sure I understand. I ran the black wire from the rectifier. Is it in the wrong place or on the wrong post?

    Resurrected a Customized WOPL 400

Finally got some more work done. Unless someone sees a mistake, I think I'm ready to wire the capacitors and begin the process of installing the transistors. I ran the two wires, as a twisted pair, for the relay, white ground from the buss bar, and black from the + post of the rectifier. The...

Great, I'll get back at it tomorrow. Thanks. What does DCP stand for? . . . circuit protection?

The only photos or mentions of the Watts Abundant relay are related to a stock driver board and transistor network. Where does the red wire connect with DC power with the backplane setup? Do I need to, or would it be easier to run a wire now?

Do you mean AC from the rectifier and ground from the star ground, as a pair up top towards where the relay will mount? So this is all I got done today. Too many interruptions and distractions. If this all looks good to you guys, tomorrow I'll wire up the other fuses and then install and wire...

Is there any wiring I should do now for the relay board? I don't have the relay yet, but maybe you guys could help me get everything ready, so that the wire routing is nice and clean.

As in suggestions about moving forward. My plan is to install the boards today, connect the respective leads to the fuse holders, and then install the capacitors. I just want to make sure I'm not forgetting anything that would require me to take things apart and redo work. It seems pretty...

    Resurrected a Customized WOPL 400

I think I'll wait to install the capacitors. The top one makes working on the fuse holders difficult. I'd like to get those wired in first. Any suggestions about the fuse holders?

Okay, here it is, so far. On the boards, I certainly realize I generated redundant jumpers. Stupid mistake. The rectifier obviously isn't soldered, and the two empty posts are, of course, for the transformer leads, the two white leads go to the capacitors. Does all this look okay?

Yeah, I saw the coordinates. But to be precise, I put the boards in the chassis with just a couple socket screws, then used a transfer punch through the board hole to get it exact. Job accomplished. Thanks for the continued assistance.

Okay, perfect. As I suspected, drilling new holes will be the key. Now I can get on it and finish up. Thanks Dennis

Dennis, Thanks for the input, but I'm still not certain how I'm supposed to mount the transistors. From the photo I'm including, you can compare the two sides and see that the mounting holes on the boards don't line up anywhere near the original mounting area. You can see that the chassis hole...

Bias Transistors Okay, I'm ready to accept the award for dumbest question of the day, but I'm finished with my backplane boards, other than installing the bias transistors. The question is, which set of holes am I supposed to use to mount the components? There are two sets of holes. I've gone...
