well, here are some shots of the tranny...one with clothes and the others without...you can see where there is a "240VAC" sticker put on top of the original label so no telling what happened.

you are talking about the light board not wired for 220, right? The amp was up and running just fine (power supply putting out +/- 104V)...just need to verify the wiring with a VOM and DBT

Exactly...as soon as I cut the leads I thought, OH SHIT...should have made a wiring diagram...too late now.

    Time to WOPL my 700B

there were four wires on the primary, two larger diameter and two smaller...the larger were connected to line/neutral and the two smaller ones were disconnected...one of them was isolated and I can't remember where the other went

That would be one big ol' stepdown transformer...but I do have a smaller 500w unit that I use for my jukebox and some other small goodies that I brought from the States with me. The amp came via Italy so it was already wired up for 240.

    Time to WOPL my 700B

OK, no turning back now...WOPL here I come! I've basically got my shopping list together and it looks like this: After looking at that rebuild that Eric did using that badass black faceplate that's the route I'm going to go. I'm also taking your advice and going to the upgraded chassis for...

    700B Customer Build

Why??? Are the original holes the wrong size, in the wrong place or just not looking up to your usual fine standards? The reason I'm asking is I'm planning to WO my 700B and am trying to pick up as much information as possible.

    Time to WOPL my 700B

Where to start...I am located in southern Finland, hence the reluctance to send the amp across the pond. I have tinkered with electronics since in high school, built some SWTPC kit amps that really rocked but my PL sounded SOOOOO good, I need to get it back. I have an assortment of equipment...

    Time to WOPL my 700B

OK guys...need some help here. I've had my 700B for a few years and the left channel went out, tried some troubleshooting but had a little "incident" where all of the magic smoke came out so I've decided it's time to bite the bullet (and rob a bank) and go full WOPL upgrade on the old gal. I...

    Greetings from the far north

Well...I guess it all a matter of perspective...my dad was mill manager at a paper mill so I grew up thinking it smelled like money! And Like Wattsabundant, I have also gotten on an airplane right after being at a mill so I know all about the "strange" looks you get o_Oo_Oo_O

    Greetings from the far north

Unfortunately nothing other than the protection circuit in the PL...and I have nightmares of something happening with the amp and smoking the JBLs. I had this happen way back with one of the kit amps I built and it smoked an old JBL D-130 (still need to get that one re-coned). If you have any...

Greetings from Finland o_O...grew up in south Georgia, lived in FLA for a spell, Atlanta for 15 years and now call Finland home:cool:. I've been into audio my whole life, built some kit amps in high school and college and always dreamed of "someday" having that nice system. Well, I bought a...
