Installed the new dual op-amps with Brown Dog adaptor. Easiest upgrade I've ever done.
Couple of taps with the hammer and success. Sounds great. Now to find the mylar caps.

Did you say in another thread they come with the little black parts attached already? Forget what they are called. But that is the reason I havent done my pre amp yet. I thought you had to solder those in place yourself.

Yes, everything is soldered and ready to drop in. With shipping about $22
 
Bubba that is an lption. Not one for me thoiugh. I think it's 5-6 bucks more for the presoldered adapter.
 
Now Jim if we can just get rid of that pesky little 4739.

Film caps work well there too.
 
Just going by looks they seem to be the same ones Thierry used in his 4401. I seem to recall him installing heat sinks on them. Cant remember for sure though.
 
If it used 4136's, probably so. Perhaps the 4401 requires more of it.

Hrrm yeah RCA 4136 seems to ring a bell. Wish Thierry wouldnt have taken his site down... was a good reference for me.

Bubba, the only one of us who has successfully soldered those things no bigger than a common ant is Dr. Lucitt, but then he's a DR. He better not shake...

They are SMT parts (surface mount technology) and these SOIC8 parts are reasonably easy to place and solder. You need a good SMT iron and microscope, then it becomes easy.
 
OK, what does an SMT soldering iron look like? And a microscope??

How about those Google foks and the glucose monitoring contacts??

The surface mount soldering irons are small. The microscope is kind of like a pair of binoculars held in place with a clamping mechanism - the difference being you're looking at stuff up close rather than far away. :rabbit:

Those contacts will help a lot of diabetics keeping they're sugar levels straight.
