Installed the new dual op-amps with Brown Dog adaptor. Easiest upgrade I've ever done.
Couple of taps with the hammer and success. Sounds great. Now to find the mylar caps.

Did you say in another thread they come with the little black parts attached already? Forget what they are called. But that is the reason I havent done my pre amp yet. I thought you had to solder those in place yourself.

Just going by looks they seem to be the same ones Thierry used in his 4401. I seem to recall him installing heat sinks on them. Cant remember for sure though.

They are SMT parts (surface mount technology) and these SOIC8 parts are reasonably easy to place and solder. You need a good SMT iron and microscope, then it becomes easy.
The surface mount soldering irons are small. The microscope is kind of like a pair of binoculars held in place with a clamping mechanism - the difference being you're looking at stuff up close rather than far away.
Those contacts will help a lot of diabetics keeping they're sugar levels straight.
