Thanks Tony. It's unbelievable how many decks were produced by Sony. I have a few favorites picked out.

A lot is missing in this list. There are also decks with a different typenumber for the European market.
Numbering is semantics Miles and I believe this is a Japanese weblog, for what it's worth. Enjoy it for what it is rather than what it is missing.. :p

I will buddy!

Japanese? Ah .. that's the reason I can't read most of it. It's like being in a Chinese restaurant.... :clown:

My mom worked in a Chinese restaurant in Nampa, Idaho in her younger days!

That's why she can make a really awesome CHEESEBURGER! :cyclosani:

I'm really intrigued by the looks of this unit:

But besides that, the nostalgic old dog in me really has a hankering for one of those many desktop, platform decks with push-buttons & traditional VU's.
The problem is, which one?
( and I need another deck like a hole in the head... :confused2: )

And my K4A needs belts plus my K65 locks up from time to time and doesn't even drive some or all of the L CH meter LEDs. One thing my K4A has over the K4 shown is the side panels...really nice looking 1976ish deck with inverted PCBs that make it really silly to get in there and clean posts etc.

There are four of the Sony decks pictured I would love to own:

TC-K7 to match my Elcaset EL-7
TC-K88 for it's drawer style loading and sleek profile
TC-K555ER for its looks and performance
TC-KA7ES, also for its looks and performance

I used my EL-7 earlier this year to record a set of test tones on an NOS blank Elcaset tape for Pacific Stereo. He has an EL-7 he is eventually going to restore and needed a test tape recorded with different frequencies at a select dB output to set up his own machine. Of course, more than the test tones, I recorded three nice tracks of music for him, too.
