Oh man, wicked album. One of my fav's when I was younger. Was definitely out of place in 94/95.

Not the first time I had heard the album. I have the CD. Sounded great on vinyl and sitting down to listen to the whole thing gave me much more appreciation for the album. Definitely enjoyed it.

Preparing to start pulling tracks for my next mix which is going to be a jazz piano/ organ tape. Started off this project today by listening to and recording:

Douglas: Probably, the most intensive part of the process, isn't it? I start off recording a number of tracks more than I need to complete a Master. You must have lots of jazz on vinyl. It's one of the most difficult music to find in used records at the thrift stores, and sometimes at the used record shops.

By far the longest part of the process for me. I figure each jazz album takes me about 45 minutes to an hour to rip, edit and catalog. I made it easier on myself this time around by eliminating several musicians from the recording pile this time around: Dave Brubeck, Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Monk and Jimmy Smith were all passed on for this mix. Would have been another 40 records to deal with.

Working my way through the Shell Cruisin' Classics tapes.
Copying them to the hard drive so I can make CDs of them for my wife.
Its a six tape set put out by Shell.

Leslie West, "Still Climbing"...

West has overcome methadone addiction and the loss of his lower right leg, surgically removed in 2010 due to complications from diabetes, to return to the best form he's been in in years. I think it's some of his best work. His guitar tone is freaking AWESOME as always, it sounds like P-90's on steroids. Vocally he is really sounding fine too. Johnny Winter, Jonny Lang, Dee Snyder, and Mark Tremonti join in for a cool album. I've just completed my first listen and it's really good. Plus, it's a GREAT RECORDING to show off your equipment. You go, Leslie!!!

I was just listening to his first s/t lp called The Leslie West Band, original Phantom Records release, great guitar player who usually slings a Flying V, no P-90s, PAF's
