Mix Tape Madness

I had the opportunity to listen to a few mix tapes that I recently received and all I can say is WOW! Always impressed with the recordings from other folks and this was no exception.

Songs from the Past
I received this mix from AKer Malinku. I can say I did not know a single song or artist and was happy to have received this. Love the hand written set list and original art:

Sit Down, Rando
Next up was from my brother- in- law, Tim(who I have been beggin' to join us here on the Dark Side). Funky mix with comedy sketches between some of the music tracks. This guy was the most prolific taper that I know and hope he gets back into trading oxide soon.

A Musical Postcard From Ireland
Last, but not least, was my tape from PACer Glantoir. Gonna keep the set list to myself until everyone has a chance to receive and listen to their copy. If you were lucky enough to get one of these, stop what you are doing right now and play this tape.

Wow, nice group of mix tapes, Douglas. I like seeing the track lists being presented. I don't recognize any of the songs, with the exception of a few, either. Would you mind copying this article and posting it on the "Your Latest Mix" thread, too?

Nando.

Be glad to, Nando. I was going to ask which thread would be more appropriate for me to post info about mixes that I received/ listened to.

Thanks for doing that. Sometimes, I like to look back into the archives of the "Your latest Mix" thread for ideas. It can give a good indication of members' interests in music style and I love seeing the posted pictures that accompany the comments. I'm sure there will be more comments to come from your latest post. Your BIL, Tim, would have a great time being a member, here.

I am VERY disappointed that she does not like Miles Davis, she can kiss my ass :laughing9:

SPLIFF

For the Tubes their best song in my opinion is STILL "White Punks On Dope" :occasion8:
You should try this one then:

Same kind of stuff, excellent album!
I've used one track of it on the mixtape I've sended to Dazen1 last year:

The complete line up of Spliff was also involved with the two first studio albums of the Nina Hagen Band....

Miles CAN be an acquired taste...you might want to work up from any collaborations before unleashing the beast at full strength, ya know.

BTW I also received Pat's cassette and will be listening to a lot of mixtapes as soon as the Christmas Project is over and sent, unless my cassette decks combust from my slavedriving?:error:

Yep, those horn blasts scare the hell out of her at the levels I am accoustomed to listening for most other stuff. She's a good sport, she digs Judas Priest so it balances out

Well, Breaking The Law is kinda like easy listening maybe vs. Bitches Brew. Ask her if she likes that post-modern symphony stuff with all the semi-cacaphonous, moody sounds that suggest the end of the world and I'll bet JP is a hymnal compared to that stuff.
