Hey all,
I got these last week on CL and before I could really get comfortable listening to them, the woofer surrounds let go So I just got done re-foaming them and whoa, baby...these are really making me smile.
I know that they're supposed to be lacking in bass, but I boosted the area of 30 to 40 Hz by around 4dB with my SAE 2800 Parametric EQ, and from Pink Floyd to Earl Klugh, from Billy Joel to Lynyrd Skynyrd, they are sounding absolutely wonderful. I might need a subwoofer for organ music, or just to try it...but right now I'm one really happy guy. I've got a little Sony sub that I tried, but the system sounds better without it. The bass guitar sounds LIVE. It doesn't have the gut-punch of a live bass, but it has an accuracy and clarity that I've never heard this way before. In my room, my Boston Acoustics A200's were very nice, but these have taken my hi-fi experience to a whole new level.
I'm hearing stuff in records that I've been listening to for 40 years that I've never really heard. At least not with the presence and definition that the DQ-10's bring. It is just so DAMN COOL! I had to share this with ya'all :toothy10:
It's going be really cool to get the dc protection circuit for my Phase Linear 400 so I can drive them a little harder, but they sound purty dang fine with my SX-1250.
Lynyrd Skynyrd's "I know a little" just came on. Gotta go.

I'll bet that's a system that would inspire a guy to build a new room for it! I've never heard a non-stock Phase Linear 700B, and the Khorns I heard were many years ago at a pretty wild party, and I couldn't tell you what was hooked up.
I'm new here so forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask...but how much is a WOPL 700B worth? Reason is that I have two 400 Series I and I want to trade up to feed my new Dahlquists :glasses8:

I had a pair of DQ-10's years ago. I thought they were fun to listen to as I recall but I was swapping so much gear at that time it's hard to remember the experience. Very cool classic speaker, enjoy!

My K's aren't stock. They are Speakelab bass bins built from plans, they have Crites 1526c 15" woofs, B & C DCM 50 2" compression drivers, a Martelli Tractix wood mid horn and a B & C ME 10 tweet. And last Al Klappenberger (with a name like that they better be good, kinda like Smuckers Jam) Universal Crossover. They are KINO's and really no compaison to the stock K's. I have had 300-400 watts continuously for hours on these and they take it. Bass is in the earthquake catagory, but those upgrades aren't cheap. Woofs are 275 pair, mid horns and drivers are 2200.00 pair, tweets are 180.00 a pair and the xcrossovers are 700.00 a pair. A fully Woplized 700 would be around 700-800 depending on what there was to begin with,. But that price includes new PS caps, White Oak driver board and lightboard and all new drivers and outputs.
