OK guys, can you suggest any new stuff that has caught your attention recently but is not too commercial sounding?

(YouTube links welcome).

Thanks fellas.

Familiar with Porcupine Tree & I know a little of Shpongle thanks to Nando. Perhaps Muse need further investigation?

I'll check those links out Ben and report back.

Keep them suggestions coming though. :)

If you are in to Motorhead sounding stuff, Jason Newstead has his own band now, Simply titled Newstead.

Here in Peterborough Ontario, Black keys, Sheepdogs, and Monster Truck, seems to be the only thing everyone is listening to. The one radio station,(which i listen to alot at work ONLY), plays the snot out of that stuff. Ive grown to dislike these artists for these reasons. I liked this stuff when it was called Wolfmother, but as this particular genre has grown, I find most of it to be very much the same.

Is that music you have already heard, Daren? I'm still discovering a few rock and blues bands from the past, so old is new to me. As an example: Dave Mason and Les Dudek, both who have, or will become chosen for tracks on my mix tapes.

Nando.

Volbeat. They are kinda metal, with some country, pop, rockabilly, punk/ska thrown in.

Damn Ben - loved Sad Man's Tongue. Like you've said these guys blend different music styles into their own.

Theyre a great outfit. They have 5 albums now and a live album. Something im digging more into lately is the story told across the albums. Not all songs from each album are a part of the story. Sometimes 4 or 5 songs or more per album. Its cool listening to the songs, and putting pieces of the story together. Gives the music a little more substance, and its also not something done too often, at least that im aware of.
