The left hand side speakers are as follows.

using 200 setting on multimeter.

Pioneer Tower: 5.8 (multimeter plugged direct into back of speaker)
Technics 8 inch: 6.4 (weird, the back specifies 8 ohms, this was measured through the wire)
Auditone 12 inch: 8.5 (multimeter plugged direct into back of speaker)

do I need to measure the right hand side speakers as well?

pioneer tower: 5.8
technics 8 inch: 7.1
auditone 12 inch: 8.2

measure with the same method (technics done through speaker wire)

hmmmmm.....
I'm sorry to be the one to break the bad news to you, I think you're gonna need a new pair of speakers specific for the job.
Those that you have are a long way short of what that WOPL is capable of.
.... and I can't see a safe and practical solution for trying to wire up wot u have in any combination, be it series, parallel, or a combination of both.
I'll find you something when the time's right.....

I am running the Pioneer Towers and technics 8 inch a/b on one of the pioneer amps, these are approx 5.8 and 6.8 ohms respectively, what should this impedance selector be set to for this amp?

Ok, would it be safe to run just the Auditone 12 inch speakers through the wopl which are rated at approx 8.2 to 8.5 ohms and leave the other two sets running on the existing amp (and sharing the pre-out between it and the pl)?

yeh, you can do that.
.... but i'm just not convinced the Auditone is up to it.
you are (essentially) going to hook them up to an arc welder, so wot do you reckon? :laughing9:

Snap crackle and pop, guess I will put a short leash on my volume knob, maybe 1 or 2mm from 0 on the dial :laughing9:

Sure got some heat coming out of those amps in the last 20 minutes, had a quiet word to the neighbor and just let it rip, pretty impressed considering the humble setup I have here.

"Derek", something like this....

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/JBL-AP91...40?pt=AU_Pro_Audio&hash=item461073b3c8&_uhb=1

Advantages are, that they can take a good kick in the arse when you feel like it, plus whatever you blow up, can be repaired with readily available aftermarket repair kits at affordable prices.
Major plus is it's affordable, and because these sort of things are in your neck of the woods, bidding competition will be low.
.... and, when the time comes, you can always add a single or pair of bass cabinets, with a variety of choices in how to add them, being with or without active or passive x-overs.
The 2x 15" JBL 2225's alone are worth the asking price.

These sort of things come up often, so there will always be a pair around when you need them.
It's not audiophile, but it sure as hell is rock'n'roll.

re: wot we spoke about on the phone...

If you run them in series like this, the amp will handle it but you will lose the control that you like so much at the center node of each of the series stacks. When wired in series, the amp only controls the end points of the series stack. It has no knowledge of what is happening at that center node and, speakers being speakers, this node will do whatever the cone mechanics want it to.

If this is for critical listening purposes, you may not like the result. Like everything audio, YMMV

Joe, that answered a long not asked question as to why that setup sounds like shit. Tried that years ago (like 30) and it almist ran me outta the house.

.... and yet it works so well with Marshall speaker (quad) boxes, that produce THAT sound that most guitarists crave for.

You said two of the important words and implied the other two.

"THAT sound"

and

"electric guitar"

Neither of these are about accurate reproduction. :)

PS: I love Marshall guitar amps.

Just pick the best speakers of the bunch and use them. By all means avoid anything that says torpedo digital on the back. :laughing9:

Yeah watch the speaker cone launch at me like a torpedo when I turn the WOPL past 1 on the dial :laughing9:
