Made an interesting discovery today;
fed my TC-K950ES some Maxell Metals and found they are easier to calibrate to.
Like not far off of center, no fuss to dial-in easier.

I'm a late bloomer to Maxell and I am finding that the MX and Vertex are becoming
some of my favorite tapes to record highly dynamic sources onto. Vertex was
always a bit finicky on the trusty TC-K870ES; not entirely sure why. Denon MG-X,
Metal Master and Fuji's always cal'd near to center detent but Maxell would take
a generous helping of record EQ & level offset with bouncy bias response.

In any event, I've done a full rotation of the deck shelves today;
TC-KA3ES and TC-K950ES are both running in for the remainder of the weekend
after a prolonged period of sleep, auditioning a wide array of tapes amassed over the years
and tasked with burn-in recordings on all three "type" settings
and then I'm off to the races throwing down some new compilations
in the coming days..

:p

Thank you, Tony. Here's a short clip of the remote operated cassette door on the Sony ES.

That's a lot of luxury when you can sit out a top flight deck like that, John. And I believe you pared it down to about 20 decks, too.
