Don't know enough about it myself, other than DC blocking should be taken care of long before that. Lemmesee, what did Joe say..... Ah....." Every microfarad has it's millihenry" .
Can DC be a byproduct of lowering impedence due to frequency variation??

So you have 077s? What would the difference be like if you used, say, 034?

You must have me confused with some Rocket Scientist you've been talking to lately....

The 077 is a much higher power rating than the 034.
... and a much longer 'throw'.
Plus the 077 is a tad more efficient being a horn loaded device which would match the JBL 2360 horns loaded with 2441 drivers that they will paired up with.

Bypass caps are used to deal with the ESR in large caps. Effectively helping the large cap deal with the frequency generated resistance with increasing frequency. See how easily an explaination spins into enigma code when the explainer hasn't a clue about what they are saying??

All I know for sure BD, is, that I've seen quite a few crossovers and I haven't seen a bypass cap unless they're disguised as bandpass filters....

It's a good thing I didn't mention Charge Coupling X-O's then.....
It's the next step up from x-o's with Bypass caps. :laughing9:

A REAL: good thing, God knows what I'd have come up with discussing those. Where's that Nav feller tonight??

Just showed up with the big thighed avvi - but I don't want to smother BD! I just don't know what to do!

I was thinkin' about re-inventing the tea bag.
Somethin' along the lines of somethin' savoury.
'Essence of Pizza', 'Amazing Omelet', 'Cheeky Chicken' are some flavours that come to mind.
Of course I haven't forgotten the family favourite, 'Beer on Tap'.
So whaddaya guys think? A winner maybe?????

Well, I'm all excited now....
I have a mate that's currently eating his way across the USA, and just before he left, I asked him if he could find me a pebble from anywhere, to bring home to me.
Well, I'm happy to announce, I'll soon be in the possession of a Pebble from Utah (somewhere.)
It can sit on the shelf with my other pebbles from around the world.
Yes, it doesn't take much to make my day...... :bounce:

Hey why not, most of my friends look at me strange when I get excited about the arrival of a new Tape deck that I know is broken :laughing9:

Unless it is a good cap, then it has its own nanohenry or picohenry :-)

In most pro live speakers, it's general practise to put a DC blocking cap on any high frequency driver as most stuff is actively crossed therefore they don't have passive crossovers..

BD
Unless you are using electrolytics in your crossovers, which you are not, the polypropylene itself will be just fine. Your speakers will have mechical limitations that will come into play long before (that is, at lower frequencies) the ESR characteristics of a polypropylene cap come into play.

Bypass is used in circuit design because the electronics often has response out in the multi-megahertz range where these ESR characteristics come into play.

That is why you do not see bypass on the main capacitive elements in a speaker crossover.

On the other hand, it does no harm.
