Looks like it was just taken out of its box, like new... :rabbit:

When I first got it, it looked like it spent its whole life in a dumpster.
OK, hold up! Tell us more about what you did to make it look like that...
Was it simply a minor cleaning job? removing crud? That dust cover
looks like brand-spanking-new dude!

6 hours of hand polishing dustcover with Novus 3, 2, 1.
Replaced knobs with new aluminum set. (I still have the perfect originals but they are mostly plastic) washed mat in hot soapy water. Recovered plinth (I don't like the color so I'll probably do it again). Windexed all the rest of it. 12 pack of beer (most important)

Thanks for the "play by play". Really nice work there!
Also, I've heard about Novus but never have I seen the magic it can enable.
Damn, that cover looks spectacular dude! The whole unit looks great actually.
You should be proud...

I'll remember the beer part too!

Beer is the most important part. Guess how many cases it took to clean my collection. (I just got into this 8 months ago and it is getting out of hand) The beer costs are massive.

What are the top two items in the third picture?
Modular Component Systems (MCS) 3125 top and 3275 middle. Picked these up with an additional 3275 on Craigslist for $100 total. The 3125's (125 wpc) tuner & preamp work fine but the protection light stays lit on the amp part, so no power to the amp. The 3275 (75 wpc) has a bad contact with the dolby button. Works fine when jiggeled. Hopefully a little de-oxit will cure all its problems. The other 3275 I have works fine except the volume pot is very hard to turn and it needs a couple of knobs.

Thanks for posting the aditional picture. Are the lines showing tone control/equalizer settings?

I find that amazing also. Joe worked a good 6 months on that particular problem. I hadn't experienced that myself till i pulled the DC board from Ken's 400. Not a kerfluffle, not a whisper, just bloody silence. As Joe told me one day-" Anything can be fixed Lee", there's your proof.

I was really referring to the MCS protection problem....
As soon as I can get my brother in law here with his meter we will start tackling this problem. It appears that one of the power caps is leaking. If this is not the problem then we will have to dig into it. I hope it's not one of the transistors. The protection relay does not seem to cycle at all. What is your experience in troubleshooting this kind of problem. The 3125 was a sleeper receiver that wasn't really appreciated but seems to have come out of its hibernation. The last one sold on Ebay for $400 plus shipping. From my research this was made by Itoh Electronics for JC Penny. Has separate power supplying each channel. Single coil diverging to two coils in the transformer going to 2 power caps each. For 125 wpc each channel has 2 80v caps at 6800 uf. This is the same amount now in my PL400 at 200 wpc.
