FYI . . . . . Music123 has these headphone on sale on eBay for only $19.99 and free shipping. I have tried to look at all the reviews I can find, and these appear to be decent phones. $500.00 headphones these are not, but for someone looking for a pair of inexpensive ones, I don't think you can beat this deal. I have a couple of pairs ordered, but I don't think they will get here in time to do a review prior to the end of the sale. They normally sell for around $50.00 and have an MSRP of $79.99. They are rated to have a FR of 18hz-20,000 hz and are 32 ohms.

Just thought you guys might want to know...before they are all gone.

How the heck can they do this? I mean shipping has to cost....well let's say $5.00...and eBay listing and other fees.... and PayPal fees...take another $2.00... That leaves $13.00 or so...and I would assume they are making something to cover labor, etc..I wonder what their cost is including shipping to them from China...Less than $10.00? Hugh, or someone else who is an audio dealer....what is the cost on a pair of these? I know they have to be in the top bracket for cost. They have already sold about 700 pair through eBay alone.

Based on the reviews they are very nice headphones...not pure junk...but we shall see. They really can't be much for that cost...I am really anxious to listen, but sounds like they have a relatively long break in, or burn in time to really get everything loosened up and for them to sound their best..

We shall see. AKG typically produces very good quality stuff. Some of their microphones are REALLY good.

It looks like he sold 800 and at least 100 in the last two days at that price, but now they are $49.99. :cyclops:

Hopefully you get yours. :thumbright:

I paid less than three bucks for a wonderful pair of Sony MDR-200 phones at at a thrift.

I got lucky. That's pretty impressive.

I got a few pairs and will put them away for Christmas presents...I saw one person bought 100 pair, another bought 50 pair and another bought 38 pairs (all they had left at the end), so it must have been a good deal, as I'll bet those large orders were from Mom and Pop Music Store owners. Sounds like twenty bucks might have been under the Dealer Cost for music stores not buying them by the truckload. (I just hope they sound worth a S#!). I still like my Grado SR-80's and I hae a pair of $9.99 phones (Sharper Image) that I got at a discount clothing store and use sometimes...I am really hoping I found an incredible deal. The MK II version is suppose to use the new Varimotion or some such technology and are rated higher than the original K-44. We'll see..........................

The headphones arrived today, and all I can say is "WOW". These are some terrific sounding headphones. In comparing to a pair of Grado SR-80's........well there is not much comparing to do. The Akg's beat them hands down. Tighter all the way around. Bass is more substantial and not loose and uncontrolled like with the Grados..The midrange is right there...perfectly balanced with the deep tight bass. The treble is very nice. Some might even think they border on sibilant, but not quite...Just lots of sparkle..again balanced with all the other things going on. Not harsh, not shrill or overpowering...Just right..all in all, a great pair of headphones.....and this is right out of the box..I am a VERY happy camper..Now I'll have to compare to my AKG 701's...which were a $350.00 pair of phones..I think there will be a family resemblance, but I really don't know that they are going to better these lowly K-44's by the $330.00 difference. I could have 18 pairs of the K-44 MK II or one pair of the 701's....or, one pair of 44's and over $300.00 left to buy music or other stuff....I'd pick the 44's....I hope some of you guys got some of these...They are very tastey.....For the money, Heck.......for any amount of money.. it's unbelieveable...NOT A PAIR OF CHEAP SOUNDING CANS AT ALL.....

The Grados sound kinda tinny and like the "cheap" headphones in comparison...I am really shocked..

I don't much like headphones and don't really ever have need for any, but for $19.99 I would have bought a pair just because.

I am glad yours showed up and you like them. :thumbright:

One of the best deals I have EVER fallen into. They really are fantastic headphones, and if anyone needs or wants any, I'd still be a buyer at $29.99 or even the regular price of $49.99. I'm telling you, these beat the pants off anything I have ever heard. They wear the Grados out. I'm loving them, and wondering how much better they could possibly get after break in..

I have a pair, Mk I's I think. They're lightweight, all black plastic, obviously not expensive headphones, sound is OK, but I've heard better (ex Stax owner). Still, at $20, a good deal.

I've never heard the Stax wither. Are they a planar technology? I still think the AKG for 20 bucks is one of the best I have ever heard, but I've not heard a bunch of the high dollar phones other than the AKG K701's which I own and the Grado SR-80's which in comparison, sound like doggie do..I heard the the Model 1000 something....is the refrnce headphone.....no longer in production....Heard those?
