I'm past that point. I need to know what to look for on the spec sheet. I'm getting some TI DACs and Opamps. Was wondering if there was a cross reference table.

I've done decent amount of opamp playing in CD players and DAC's. I really just read around and then pop em in - both SMT and the bigguns. I've never had one not work. My favorite so far is LT1364. I've put em in DAC's/CD players. Way too fast for the requirements but they've never not worked. 1000V/microsecond slew rate. Have used them in preamps too.

A couple popular opamps they've slew (pun intended) were the LM4562, OPA2134, as well as the newer NE devices.

Scott, didn't know you were so punny. Why don't you share some of the op-amp rolling on a case by case basis. No one's done that yet.

Well I really don't have all me facts and figures straight, but I remember jacking with these ones -

Denon PRA1000 Pre
PL3300 Pre
Toshiba 3950 DVD
My Cheap $69 Chinese DAC

I ended sticking the LT1364 in all of em I believe in the end. It's a good sounding amp.

Yes. But I was not enamored by the sound of the 3300 as I hear others are, and I had recapped mine as well. It didn't do it for me (loved the looks though).

Try the LT device on your next opamp project and let me know what you think. Don't think they're expensive either.

Hmmmmmm...... interesting, I think the 3300 is one of the better ones out there. I'll take your suggestion of the LT device, thanks Scott.

Yes, don't get it. Might have to revisit that one again someday. I liked my PL2000 better than the 3300 (both recapped). Using Spec 1/Accuphase C200 at the moment. Got the Yammi C2-a going but have a hum in one of the phono channels to get rid of yet.

Is the Spec 1 tricked out to EW's specs??

Did you run the Brown-Dog adapter in the 2000??

No, Spec 1 is stock still, have not replaced anything in there yet. I would like to do recap it/make improvents to it next. I think it will end up being my favorite of what I have, unless the C2-a beats it out. For anything but phono, it beats the C200 imo, but for phono the C200 is a little better, but not apples to apples, as the C200 has been recapped.

On the 2000 it was all stock except for new caps. I wish I would've kept the 2000, but I sold it a long time ago.

I have the Spec 1 recap list where he states which are in the signal path and those that aren't. New trannies while your in there help a bunch too. I've done all 3 of mine and it's a world of difference. A rather tedious undertaking to keep from breaking the point to point wiring but doable.
I've done a few 2000 I' and II's and kicking the RC4136 to the curb is a definate improvement, Joe is still researching a replacement for the 4739. I have a selection of 2000's , a couple of them quite cherry. If you find a I or II with no rack handles, Ed sent me a couple sets of new ones. If your interested in the 2000's let me know. I'm keeping one of each, but really need to get rid of the rest.

Why do both? Just changing one may get it done. Never mind I will investigate this fuller. Just ordered more samples. LOL I needed SSOS. So that is what I will try this time.

Hey Larry,

Those op amps you listed earlier have some seriously good specs on 'em, but as there are different sounding combinations you should still try a few others to see how you like 'em. Try the BB's.. LM4562's... etc. Are they surface mount or can you put in a DIP socket?
