Digital upgrades and a new DAC in my future?

Until you've somehow managed to deconfigure it so it won't recognize the optical in...on the Node 1...
There is nothing ive owned that makes feel as stupid as this thing does.
Maybe im getting dumber every day, but out of the box i could take stuff off the computer and play it through the tunebox. I was in settings checking output levels(imagine that) and before ya know it i no longer have a cooperating streamer.
My understanding of digital is pretty rudimentary anyway. I've yet to find the operating manual that talks in "Lee" mode. I wasnt always this stupid about stuff...
Something is up with it. I didn't think of a firmware update at the time. Maybe that is worth a try.

Could not find firmware update, just the latest software, which wont run on windows 7.
There's a possibility that the later software version could have a firmware update built into it.

Simply install the BlueOS Controller app on either an Android or Apple phone. You don't need Windows 10 or 11 to check for firmware updates..
Works on tablets too! ... if you have one of those laying around that isn't too old.

I'll have to see how old this iPad is. We upgraded a while back with a newspaper (remember those?) subscription for all electronic delivery- no choice - so the old one is just sitting here on my desk collecting dust.

The app wont install on windows 7, Lee is using the older version. When I installed the new version, it would not launch, just crashed. Needs win 8.1 and higher, so I rolled it back.
We gotta get that blue sound factory reset.

I'm going to put the app on my phone Darc. See what happens then.... I might be able to run the external hard drives directly into the Node...

Reread what I typed...

Lee has a modern Samsung phone. The latest app is not a hurdle. What is needed is a current look-see into the Node and getting its firmware updated.
The next step is to check the configuration insitu after said update.

Defaulting to a hard reset first is a fools errand... Just sayin. ;)
Nothing is learned doing that.

A factory reset is safer than a firmware update. At least it can't brick the unit. In many cases a firmware update resets everything to default anyway.

If you perform the firmware update via your phone, stay close to the unit until it is all complete.

No one was suggesting doing the FW update from the phone.
Lee needs to see inside the darned thing first!
If the FW is down-level, which seems likely, then the unit needs to simply & easily be hooked up to his network with an Ethernet cable.
This stuff isn't rocket science dude!

And the "bricking" thing is another ... "Huh?"

Well pick up the phone, call Lee, and you can sort it out :evil4:
