What plugs/connectors are you using on Phase Linear amplifiers?

Like my BlueTooth ?
I have been using standard cheap banana jack style plugs to plug my speaker wires into the back of the PL 700. I had the same problem with my PL 400. They just do not fit / seat down into the binding post of the amplifiers as securely as I would like. They do not go in far enough and seem loose. Kinda scary to me. What do you use? Picture from the net for reference. Not my amplifier. These are the style banana jacks I have been using just with some shrink wrap applied to the barrel.

I thought of pins. Like you said, the small size of the hole kinda stopped me there. May custom up a set. I like the spade Idea too. I gotta think that one over carefully. Do some measuring or machining when I put that one in to action. I also thought I might find a set of banana style that would lock in place if I looked hard enough. Thanks Perry.

The solution - install real banana jacks that have sufficient depth.

Not a direct drop in replacement, but worth the effort. Same speaker outputs as used on the Model ONE amp.

Keystone binding posts
Black - 7017
White - 7016
Red - 7023

Standoffs - 91156A163 (McMaster Carr)

Requires 10-32 standoffs with 4-40 studs.

Use locking style banana plugs instead of the spring style that you are showing that need to go deeper in order to grab. The head end expands to lock into the banana jack on the locking style.

I think I have some of those on a set of speaker wires I am not using. They did grab very well now that I think about it. Thanks Joe

They work right , because they use two anchor points .
PL and Dynaco use small binding posts and so it's unnecessary to replace them.
I use Pomona only on PL 700 , PL700B , PL400 and Dynaco ST120 .
Max 2.5 mm2 = approx AWG 12 /13 . Good for home .
Ciao

Please use the the twistlocks James...used em for years, worked very well....

For your information, a 12 pt 10mm fits the stock PL post nuts. Using spades in rhe rack its hard to get a grip in the red and white fuckers....yep, 12 pt 10mm....everybody has one of those..
