I know you guys like a good laugh and this thing seems like a joke for 25,000 UK pounds.

Mend it Mark videos are great.

He has an aspirational set of tools and excellent knowledge of use.
actually, I've seen a couple of his cassette deck repair videos in the past and noticed a few rookie things (on the mechanics side)... so, maybe, cassette decks aren't exactly his cup of tea, being some VERY specific matter which is different than other kind of HiFi gear... including the use of some "questionable" calibration tapes.

This video is very good, though.

Yeah, Mark is just great. He did mention that he hates working on cassette decks though (in the AD-F990 video), and he doesn't have calibration tapes. But my god he will not give up, and he is a small factory with insane knowledge and abilities. From winding motors and creating entire PCB and circuit design for them, to creating replacement gears (not 3d prints!). He might not have the means to properly tune a deck (no calibration tapes or tools to check/tune the tapepath, although I thought about gifting him a set of HPR tapes), but he will fix it and then-some. His Beocord repair video is just insane, I know a lot of technicians that specialize in decks wouldn't wanna touch this thing, including me LOLz:

He has my full respect and support. Even the iFixit guys expressed their support with the Tom Evans situation.

actually, in the past, I had only watched a couple of his cassette decks videos and I wasn't too impressed, so my idea about him was skewed... and if he doesn't love cassette decks that's understandable, as you cannot know just everything.

But, indeed, with purely electronic stuff/devices he is totally into his own comfort zone.

I was following this just before and over xmas from the comfort of my hospital bed. Made for a great bit of entertainment and shows just how gullible some can be falling for this over-priced, underwhelming sh!t.
There's a few Tom Evans review videos on youtube and they're just a total cringe-fest to watch. Self-appointed 'experts' lauding the 'amazing, out-of-this-world' sound that Tome Evans products can create. I wonder how they feel now, lol.

Great to see sense prevailing and other channels and forums rallying around Mark. DIY audio has a good thread on it too. He's a decent chap and one of the better 'Mr fixit' channels I follow.

For that kind of price you would think he could at least use brass or aluminum standoffs. And all those tantalums!!! They are terrible about failing shorted like that.
