New PL400 Full WOPL Build

Thanks for the comments.

In the home stretch now.

Can't wait to start listening to Bonamassa on this paired with an Aragon 24K SP.

It will blow you away!
You will honestly hear things you never have before, on recordings you have had / known for years.
The enjoyment to really listening to a recording, the detail, complexities, sound stage, separation are extraordinary with the WOPL mods.

Overall view and initial install of DCP.

Control board install tomorrow assuming a clean power up test.

You should get exceptional results from the care that you applied to your workmanship. And you will be able to take pride the insides of your amp project (which won't show) are also exceptional. Great job, it looks like a clone of my amps.

Should be VERY revealing of the good, the bad and the ugly of every recording. That's the curse of really good gear...
This is soooo true. The recording engineering quality is crystal clear. I have a lot of Jazz vinyl from the late 50's, early 60's that has an incredible soundstage, mic placement, and mixing are superb....the band (quartet, sextet symphony etc.) are right in front of you, front row center for the performance.
I also have other well known bands from the late 60's to the 80's that are very poorly engineered. The poorly engineered ones cannot hide
from the WOPL mods. :D

Thanks Joe.

Your assembly slide show pictures are a great reference.

I spent several hours staring at the assembly trying to plan out wiring details before terminating. I got ahead of myself when thinking about how to wire up the DCP board and later found you answered all my questions within the backplane assembly documentation. Dangers of trying to stay 10 steps ahead in my mind without fully reading all documents.

Now on to rereading all power up procedures.

So true... The source material now becomes increasingly important.

Initial listening sessions using Spotify music streaming with my iPhone through the 24K into a Bryston 4BSST amp (a brutally neutral and accurate pairing) driving B&W 802's speakers was horrifically flat and divoid of detail as compared to CDs.

I suspect a good streaming DAC and high res music service will be in my future...

I really like the Bluesound Node DAC and streamer I got, paired with Amazon HD ....pretty damn good.

I run my CD Player and Streaming music through a Schiit Gungnir DAC, with balanced outputs, in my WOPL 700b / Klipsch LaScala (Baby K- Horns) combo, main system. I stream with Spotify, and have tried Tidal. Very happy with the results, stuck with Spotify.

It's alive!!

All voltages checked out and passed all power up testing.

Bias set to 350mV and output offset was 1mV on each channel.

It's rocken on the bench in the basement for the last hour for burn in and sounds great!!

Just need to wire up the meters and mount the face plate. Can't wait to put it into the main system.

felicidades!!!!

Last picture before final assembly and listening to music.

It turned out as good as I could have hoped and sounds fantastic.

The Blue LED's just don't photograph well at all.
