Someday the original PL transformers are going to be NLA because we have built the available ones into WOPL's. When that day comes we will need another power supply for our WOPL's if we are to keep building them. I am thinking about ways to do that and trying to learn about the power supply design requirements and specifications for the original PL400 and PL700. The PL Service Manuals are not much help. Maybe even some design improvements...
