How did that old song go?

"You may be RIGHT... I may be CRAZY"

I have something "coming"... something wicked, this way comes...

I'll give y'alls a clue... or several:

WPC @ 8 ohms - 540
4 ohms - 875
8 ohms, bridged - 1720

Lee - still got the PL and it does kick, but in the ever quest of "more power".... bua ha ha ha. Mebbe that was me who started the Louisa County earthquake, eh? Mebbe I start it again? Mebbe the cops haven't been called yet, so hey? :rabbit:

Pics when I get 'er... anyone got a good guess yet? :cyclops:

Is it a Crown CTs-8200 Power Amplifier?

With that kinda juice it has to be a Sunfire or a Carver or probably pro band amp. :wwoutpics:

How about a CROWN Com-Tech CT-1600 Power Amp ? They fit the bill and go for about 350 bills on ebay.

The owners manuals refer to them as Spec Killers.

Yup, you have named the beast correctly.

I almost got a CT 800 (305 per channel) instead, but man... I believe I ran into the "soup nazi" seller of ebay. I'm asking him a few simple questions, and he replies in an asinine fashion to all of them. So I told him I'm taking my money elsewhere, and he "brands" me as a "Dirty American"...

WTF?

"NO AMP FOR YOU!"

Well, ok... no problem dude... I'll just buy the next step up and for less money... asshole...

:bootyshake: :bootyshake:

Then he taunts.. and taunts again.. reminded me of the Frenchman in the Holy Grail.. hehehe

WoW :cyclopsani: That's a beast!

But let's chat about those speaker outputs, Whatupwitdose?? Screws?? Dude you need to swap those out fast... they look like something on the back of a 60's tube amp :?

I love the layout inside, nice and tidy, how big is that power cord? Looks like the 12 gauge ones SAE uses on their big boys.

The seller includes a couple of pigtails to move them out to standard banana/binding posts. He is also including a barrier plug to RCA pair for the inputs. Great deal, methinks.

I took a peek inside. It's really clean in there. Overall this one's in GREAT shape - the seller wasn't B.S.'ing at all about the environment they were pulled from.

The PIP card this one comes with is kind of interesting. I don't know how I feel about it having an isolation transformer between the preamp inputs and the amp inputs. But it also has a pretty simple schematic with op amps in sockets, which means I could (and probably should) try a couple of LM4562's. Sounds pretty good as-is, but ya never know how much improved it could be with different op amps til you try.
