If anybody is interested, I am going to build another pair of the Series II Clair amps. They will have all the goodies and sport an original Phase Linear 700 Series II Clair Bros Faceplate. It will have all new backplanes, control boards, new wiring, new Power Input Caps, new fuse holders, output transistors, and a host of other upgrades. The new owner will also receive a customized/serialized Binder with all the test results as recorded from my new Prism Dscope IIIA. The build will take just a couple weeks and if you are interested in getting one of the last Clair amps, PM me and we can discuss the particulars. Both of these amps are the last of the consecutive serial numbered amplifiers. I have already started working on them (cleaning and painting the chassis and transformers, installing fuse holders etc...). These will have all the White Oak upgrades (to the tune of about 500 Watts Per Channel), new CNC'd 700B style handles, all new switches and volume pots.... And they will carry the same warranty I put on all my amps.... LIFETIME!!!! The only things not covered in my warranties are the Transformer (they don't make them anymore but most have NEVER seen one go bad), the sheet metal (although White Oak has new chassis'), the heat sinks. The meters can be repaired to a large extent if they have issues down the road. The new attenuator switches will cure a lot of issues with these meters. These amps will be sealed with tamper proof seals and if opened by anybody (except those authorized by me) the warranty will be void. Last but certainly not least, these amps will also have the WATTS ABUNDANT DC Protection circuit installed to protect the old Kraco's......... If you are not sporting a huge woody listening to your new amp, return it in the first 30 days and I'll return your money, no questions asked (except what's wrong with it).

Here is what to expect (minus the perfect face plate) and you will receive different handles (I can include the same handles pictured if you desire the series II style). Knobs may vary but you WILL NOT GET THE PLASTIC ONES (unless you request them). Silver knobs, black knobs, silver handles black handles, one of each? Take your pick. I also install feet on my amps to get them off the deck to help in cooling. OR would you rather have one of your amps revitalized??? I can do that too.

Well my brothers and sisters, that didn't last long. One of our new members Greg (geegz) just bought himself the most awesome birthday present (his birthday is coming up quick). He just bough the 2 Clairs I finished a couple days ago. They are twins named Lacey and Lucy.

He now belongs to the CON's Club (That's an abbreviation for Consecutive Owners Now).

Welcome to the club Greg, there are not too many of us.

His new baby girls have all of the newest White Oak Audio Design electronics to include the latest and greatest Back Planes, Control Boards, Watts Abundant DC Protection Boards, and all the rest of the goodies I could find (NOS power and attenuator switches, output transistors, input RCA's, 50 amp Rectifiers, foot kits, new reproduction handles... shit, the list goes on and on).. My thanks to Greg for keeping serial numbers 9474 and 9475 together and in the "Phoenix Family". Outside of the 4 consec numbers amps I saved for myself, I got one or two Clairs left and it's been an exciting 12 months. :occasion1::occasion4:

Damn Greg - you don't mess around do you? I'm glad you purchased these from Perry. He's a stand up guy unless he's had a beer or three too many. :occasion5: These amps will rock your world.

Nice job with the Clair amps Perry. Greg should get a lot of use out of these.

Thanks guys! Couldn't help myself with these, figured might as well bite the bullet on these and now being part of this community for full support it just makes sense.

I found you you guys when I pulled my 2 PL400's out of storage that I bought in 1992 from the original owner and used for a while in the 90's until they drifted out of good function when I just put them in storage(glad I didn't garage sale them), in researching how to update them I found everyone here and caught the bug again. I ordered driver boards and back planes for one of the 400's from Joe and they came in last week, you will see a thread started here when I start that build (my first build, and I am a self proclaimed hack) so you guys can follow along, and tell me everything I'm doing wrong.

my birthday was a couple Saturday's ago, 9/24, the big 50

I noticed your post was at 4:20 this morning. Is that a hint Dennis? As a fellow CON (consecutive owners now) any words of advice for a newbie getting ready to build a 400?

Bye-Bye to Lucy and Lacey. You should have them about Friday. Be Gentle, they're VIRGINS... They are insured, look for box damage and document it. Don't shit your pants lifting them. Double Boxed, double bubbled, and there is some great paperwork inside. I'll drop them at fedex in the morning. They are broke in and ready to party.
