I miss playing golf. When I was a kid, all I needed was a 2 wood, 5 iron, 9 iron and a putter

I lived the game for 40 years,I carried a single digit handicap for a year. but shot low 80s pretty consistent. not any more after my back surgery I lost my shoulder turn and my distance and quit playing, not much fun shooting in the 90s. I have dozens of golf balls as well as 3 sets of clubs gathering dust in the garage

I have missed a hole in one by inches about 4 or 5 times in my life and I once shot a double eagle (2 Shots) o n a par 5 hole. I gae up my gold game after back surgery as I could never take it easy swinging the clubs.

This is the course I used to play on

http://www.golfnewyork.com/courses/fort-johnson/rolling-hills-cc/

My Dad was a very good player so I had a good coach. After his health started to deteriorate, I never played again. I do miss playing though, we have a decent course by us so who knows maybe this year I will give it a go again. I keep telling myself that for the last 15 years and never seem to have the time. Hell, I get a fishing license every year and only get to go for a total of an hour and a half a year for the last 10 years

I came close once to an Ace, my Dad got 5 in his life. His last one was at the Amsterdam Municiple, 4th hole par 3. All you could see was the top of the flag on that hole as you shot over a deep gully

I worked at Schaumburg Golf Club on weekends and use to have a class A club repairmens card I had a Clandestine club repair business and did repairs ,re-shafts and refinishing it was pocket money while I went to cooking school. Man I could really Blast them off the Tee and had a great eye for reading a green, never had a Hole in one but was close many times

Is it strictly mental??
Yea I believe some of it is. the game looks so easy and most guys are happy to shoot golf scores in the 90s, consider this only 3% of golfer can break a 100 imagine the %s that break 90,80,70,, never had a game that I enjoyed so much when I was playing well but was so frustrating when I was play bad, I remember losing my swing one season and shot in the high 90s, the day I sank a put to shoot 89 I actually F---king cried
