I'm looking to purchase a PL700B or possibly a 700 series ii. This amp will get the full White Oaks upgrade so it doesn't need to be in working condition. What's most important is that it's in cosmetic condition worthy of the expense involved to WOPL it. It does need to have a good transformer and meters. :hello1:

Thanks.....Gary

Hi Gary
It doesn't even need good cosmetics now that premium chassis and faceplates are available. What it needs is meters, transformer and heat sink fins. The rest is available and it can look better than original factory.

Thanks Joe, I like your idea. I wasn't sure if face plates were still available and the W/O chassis sounds awesome. I guess I would still need a donor unit or at least all the other parts in a basket. :toothy5:

Hi Gary
Make sure the donor is a 700B or Series 2. The early, original 700
does not have compatible heat sinks or meters to the chassis and faceplates.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the additional information. I'm fine with it being either a 700B or series 2. However, I need to have one or the other in hand, before I can try to buy a new faceplate. Once I purchase those items needed, I'll contact you, to purchase everything else.

Thanks again,
Gary

If you are interested, I am going to be doing some Clair WOPL builds and I do have a unit if you want me to build you one. I have been having a hell of a time even finding donors these last few months.
