im not really, it works well enough with the other silver face gear i have.

Understand that. But you should remember that even when restored the problems can resurface at any time. Just the way the darn thing was put together. Joe has one that he uses but he went whole hog and replaced all the card connectors with gold plated ones. Don't know that, that would be cost effective cause there are better pre-amps to be had for less than that upgrade would cost. However, if you truly like that unit, it can be fixed, but pricey....
