When drugs are worth more then life, perhaps it was the best thing for him. Dude had it all but was literally snowblind

This guy was in the news quite a bit the last while. Erratic behavior at shows, during meet and greets with fans, and in interviews.

I think there was more going on with him than the public was made aware. After watching/listening his recent interviews, I think he had some sort of medical condition. Slow speech, disconnected, and certain facial quirks, like the left side of his mouth not moving, lead me to believe there is more to this story than were being told.

Seems as though someone else was turning the wheels on the "big machine". If you think that kind of stuff doesnt happen, take a look at Chuck Berry still being pushed out on stage barely able to play.

A shame none the less. Gone too soon for sure.

Scott was a talented & brilliant vocalist
and looms large in my audio psyche.

The big machine reference was spot on too.

I'm big on STP and VR !

While maybe not your cup of tea, check out some of his work.

I sang STP songs on karaoke nights and Scott's voice and persona was a huge part of the 1990s for a lot of people. I agree with Tony about how much I loved his work. Just like Jim Morrison though, work, beauty and reality are strangely apart and adrift for many and that is truly the definition of tragedy.

I listened to them both, but nothing catchy or memorable in either one. I am sure if I listened to them 15 or 20 times they might sink in.

STP's Core album is fabulous. Purple was decent. I thought Velvet Revolver was pretty blasé

STP never interested me when they broke (to much other similar music happening back then) but the rumor of what the band originally wanted to call themselves got me curious enough to buy a couple of CD's. Only listened to them once or twice. Never heard Velvet Revolver before just now via that link and I was surprised at how much I liked it. Very powerful imagery and a self fulfilling prophecy by the sound of things.

And no spoiler here, the tests are in now and show he died from a combination of cocaine, ethanol (booze) and other assorted junk.

I recently picked up Stone Temple Pilot's album "Core" and it is fantabulous - thanks Ron for your thoughts on this in another thread. Been listening to it daily for the last week or so - good stuff IMO.
